From Evidence to Trust

Africa’s advances in biotechnology, genomics and other biosciences offer growing opportunities for innovation. Yet uneven public understanding and the spread of misinformation can undermine trust. ABBC 2027 will explore how credible, inclusive communication can connect scientific evidence with public understanding, informed decisions and societal benefit.

The symposium will bring together researchers, journalists, policymakers, regulators, industry representatives and partners in Dakar, Senegal.

Through keynote addresses, thematic presentations, panel discussions, case studies, exhibitions and share fairs, participants will examine science governance, responsible communication, research translation, science–media partnerships, digital misinformation and institutional communication capacity. Dedicated poster sessions and early-career engagement will encourage shared learning and collaboration.

The symposium aims to strengthen communication skills, build partnerships and advance practical approaches that support public trust and evidence-informed decision-making across Africa.
